PREFERRED DEVELOPER NAMED FOR LANDMARK PROJECT

June 2, 2008 – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief Development Officer David Panagore will hold a press conference on Tuesday, June 3rd at 10 a.m. in Court Square in front of 13-31 Elm Street to announce and introduce Connolly and Partners, the Preferred Developer for the Court Square Redevelopment Opportunity.

The Court Square Selection Committee chose Connolly and Partners from an initial round of seven interested developers. The firm is responsible for projects such as the conversion of Whalers Place in New Bedford, a 100,000 sf mill, into 75 apartments; the Academy Building mixed-use project in Fall River; and was involved in Classical High School’s conversion to 111 condominiums in Springfield.

The Urban Land Institute, an internationally recognized development advisory service, defined the large scale Court Square  project as a key component to the city’s economic turnaround. The project will redevelop 13-31 Elm Street, 3-7 Elm Street and additional properties.
