Fire DepartmentIn addition to fighting fires, the fire department provides first aid and fire extinguisher training for schools, hospitals, and businesses. The alarm division receives and transmits all alarms in addition to maintaining and servicing equipment and wires. The fire prevention division educates citizens in fire prevention and inspects buildings for fire hazards. All buildings, public and private, are inspected once a year. Businesses and public buildings may be entered without permission; permission must be granted for home inspections. The arson and bomb squad investigates all fires and explosions occurring in the city. The public information segment presents fire prevention education programs.
