(September 22, 2008) – On Tuesday, September 23rd at 11 a.m. the North End Housing Initiative (NEHI) will host a groundbreaking for a plan to build two single family homes on tax title lots formerly owned by the City. Mayor Domenic J. Sarno will participate in the ceremony, which will take place in the lot between 27 and 30 Jefferson St.
The North End Housing Initiative is a new all volunteer Community Development Corporation founded by members of the New North Citizens Council and North End businesses. The NEHI is financially supported by Baystate Health as part of the DPH agreement following the hospital’s most recent expansion. NEHI is also granted funding from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development.
State Representative Cheryl Coakley-Rivera, Steve Bradley of BHS, and others will also participate in the groundbreaking ceremony. NEHI intends to sell the homes to first-time buyers upon their completion.
