Staying Informed during a Pandemic: A Community DiscussionThe Springfield Health Dept. wants your opinion! Please join a discussion session and help your local health officials figure out how to keep you informed during a flu outbreak. Make your voice heard! You will receive $50 if you attend. Forest Park Library Branch Closing for RenovationsThe Forest Park branch library at 380 Belmont Ave. is temporarily closing for renovation beginning June 8, 2009. Each level of the Forest Park Branch Library will soon be accessible to all, necessitating closing the branch until the end of October. Patrons may continue to use the book drop until June 29. Check the library website at www.springfieldlibrary.org for alternate branch locations and hours, Summer Reading Programs for kids, and more upcoming events. 2009 Pool Pass Pre-RegistrationResidents who wish to swim at Forest Park pool or any indoor pool sites this summer must have a Pools ID card to swim. Use your 2008 Pools ID card, or pre-register and then obtain a free photo ID from the Parks Dept. You must bring this Pool Pass with you whenever you go to a Springfield Pool. Each member of the family must have an ID card to swim, and at least one adult in a family must register in order for children from that family to register. Start by filling out the pre-registration form, once for each family member, parent first. Print your form and bring it along to one of the photo ID Card sessions to get your photo ID card quickly. PVTA Moves 3 Bus Stops on Main StreetAs of Saturday, May 16, three PVTA bus stops on Main Street downtown are being relocated as follow: Fort St. stop is moving to 1550 Main St. (former Federal Building) Please contact the PVTA Customer Service Office at 1-877-779-7882 if you have questions. These bills reflect the trash fee for the period October 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009, which is $67.50 unless you have a discount. If you have a balance due from the first quarter of FY 2009 or from FY 2008 these amounts due will also appear on your bill plus interest. More U.S. Postal Service Solicits Public CommentThe U.S. Postal Service is conducting a study to determine whether some operations of the Springfield Processing & Distribution Center should be shifted to Hartford, and soliciting the public's input as part of the process.
