The Following is a project list for Springfield Public schools for the summer of 2007. The list covers approximately 32 of the districts 47 schools that had substantial projects completed and has an estimated value of 3.3 million dollars in school repairs and capital projects and 9.0 million in ESCO projects.
Roofing Projects - Talmadge, Balliet, Kiley (Courtyard roof) and Duggan (gymnasium roof)
Emergency Exit Lights and Signs (Repairs and Upgrades) – Brookings, Brightwood, Chestnut, Forest Park, Kasparian Center, Kennedy, Kensington, Kiley, Liberty, Lincoln, Mary O'Pottenger, Talmadge, Washington, White and Zanetti
Floor Tile and Carpet Projects - Beal, Brightwood, Dorman, Forest Park, Glenwood, Rebecca Johnson, Kiley, Lincoln, Milton Bradley, Sci Tech, Talmadge, Warner, Washington and Van Sickle (approximately 76,400square feet total)
Classroom Dividers - Van Sickle/Springfield High
Parking Lot Paving and Repairs - Lincoln, Mary O'Pottenger, Kiley
(pot holes and storm drains repaired and speed bumps installed at 23 schools)
Fire Alarm Systems (Repairs and Upgrades) – Balliet, Homer, Talmadge and Washington
Plumbing Repairs - Brightwood, Brookings, Brunton, Commerce, Chestnut, Glenwood, Kiley, Lincoln (total renovations), Mary Lynch (bathrooms remodeled to Handicapped accessible), Milton Bradley, Van Sickle, Washington and Zanetti
Painting – Brunton, Central (complete gymnasium) Dorman, Freedman (gymnasium), Forest Park, Kennedy, Kiley (cafeteria's) Sci Tech (hallways), Talmadge and White Street Courtyard Renovations - Liberty and Duggan
Sidewalk Repairs – Brunton (installation of handicapped ramp), Glickman, Indian Orchard, Kiley (installation of handicapped ramp), Liberty, Kasparian Center and Sci- Tech
Blinds and Shades – Balliet, Brunton, Ells, Kennedy and Kiley (window tinting)
Pools – Central and Rebecca Johnson (deck drains replaced), Kiley (new main drain installed) and Milton Bradley (new computerized control center and new chemical dispensing units)
Esco Summer Project List
Lighting retrofit and/or replacements- Beal, Boland, Safe School Alden Street campus, Deberry, Lincoln, Sumner, Washington, Kiley, White and Zanetti
New Boilers- Beal, Bowles, Safe School Alden Street Campus, Brightwood, Brookings, Duggan, Ells, Kiley, Lincoln, Warner, Washington, and White.
Basic Energy Management Systems- Beal, Bowles, Safe School Alden Street Campus, Brightwood, Brookings, Duggan, Ells, Kiley, Lincoln, Warner, Washington, and White
In addition the Facilities department instituted two special programs using resources form our School coordinator program and students from MCDI. One program initiated a grounds clean-up at 45 school sites and at Central Office. This program did a clean-up of brush and debris as well as doing a general trash sweep of the facilities. By the end of this program approximately 225 truckloads of brush and debris will have been removed from school grounds.
Another project that was completed by the School coordinators and MCDI program was the cleaning and minor repair to the heating system Univents. This program impacted almost half of the systems 47 schools and approximately 375 univent systems.
