Single Stream Recycling Carts Go Citywide

Residents with city rubbish service will no longer have to sort their recyclable material into separate bins. All sorting is done at the facility, which means Recycling has never been easier.

Single Stream Recycling Carts will be delivered beginning the first week of August. You do not need to be home to accept delivery. Instructions will be attached to each barrel. Your rubbish and recycle day will not change. More>>


The mission of the City of Springfield Public Works Department is to maintain and preserve the City's public way infrastructure which includes streets, sidewalks, street signs, traffic signals, and catch basins.  The Department explores cost effective and environmentally responsible disposal of waste and recycling.  The Department provides an economically and professionally operated fleet service center to assure the safety of the citizens and employees of Springfield.  Additionally, the Public Works Department protects the environment while maintaining health and safety standards through the management and operation of the City's Storm Drain system.
