Trash FeeStarting July 1, 2007, the $90 per barrel trash fee took effect for those property owners who want the city to continue picking up their trash. Springfield property owners are not mandated to participate in the city’s trash service. Those who choose not to participate will be responsible for the proper disposal of their own trash. Department of Public Works would like to remind customers participating in the City's trash collection that the current program will remain in effect until June 30, 2008. 1st quarter invoices were issued on 04/17/07; 2nd quarter invoices were issued on 10/01/07 and the bills for the 3rd quarter, covering the trash service from 01/01/08 to 03/31/08, were issued on 01/01/08 and will be due on 02/01/08. The Department would like to thank those property owners who recognize the value of this program and paid their invoices timely. If you have not yet paid the minimum amount due and wish to continue to receive trash collection service from the City, please pay the amount indicated on your current invoice as soon as possible to avoid the trash service interruption. Starting July 1, 2008, the City is investigating the introduction of a Pay-As-You-Throw system that will relate the cost of trash collection and disposal services more directly to the volume of trash produced by each property serviced by the City.

Use Bin Return Form to return additional bins you no longer need. Purchased bins are your property. Use Opt-Out Form to end the city's trash service. Use Opt-In Form to start the city's trash service. Use FY 07 Credit Refund Request Form to request refund of payment made in fiscal year 2007. |
