About the Housing Department

The Office of Housing exists to maintain and improve the city's housing stock. The office makes grants to income-eligible homeowners for exterior paint, lead abatement, general rehabilitation, and furnace repair and replacement. Other activities include home-buyer education, financial assistance for qualified first-time home-buyers, production of rental housing via rehabilitation, redevelopment of boarded and abandoned property, and oversight of federally-funded programs for the homeless.
