Walsh Playground
Walsh Park is located in the Liberty Heights neighborhood of Springfield. This park represents a quarter of the active recreational space for this neighborhood, but has been closed since 2004 due to settling soils and irregularities in the playing field surface. Preliminary testing in the winter of 2008 confirmed the site was formerly used as a wood waste dumping ground. This project provided a site survey, additional testing of the soils, evaluation of the test results, design plans and specifications, engineer’s cost estimate of remediation and the construction services to remediate. This project, funded by a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant, was completed in July, 2010. Capital Construction Projects:
