September 16, 2008 - Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and a representative of the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony for All States Transport, Inc. on Friday, Sept. 19th at 1 p.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at the new home of All States Transport, 1067 E. Columbus Ave. (located on the corner of Margaret and Fremont Street in the city’s South End).
All States Transport, Inc. is a freight brokerage company that is responsible for moving freight by road, rail, ocean and air throughout the country and internationally. The company has been in business for 23 years, most recently operating out of 165 Avocado St. While the company’s home office is located in Springfield, it also has offices located in Texas, Florida and Wisconsin. Eighteen of the company’s 25 employees work out of the Springfield office.
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno credited the business with restoring an important South End corner, highly visible from Interstate 91.
“This new development is yet another source of energy that compliments the activity taking place throughout the City, from the South End and Riverfront to the State Street Corridor,” said Sarno. “All States Transport has transformed an underutilized, vacant building and a vacant lot into a source of pride not only for the South End but the entire City.”
Chamber President Russell F. Denver indicated that “the Chamber was pleased to have been part of the success of AST opening on Columbus Avenue and is pleased that they continued to call Springfield home for their business.”
