Mayor Charles v. Ryan; Chief Development Officer David Panagore; and others will hold a press conference on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at noontime to announce the start of demolition of the former York street jail on West Clumbus ave.  

The press conference will take place at the site.

The urban land institute, an internationally reknowned research team that conducted an exhaustive study of the city last September, identified the jail’s demolition as a top priority. Redevlopment of the 3.5 acres of land upon which the old jail now sits is considered key to the economic development of the city’s Connecticut riverfront.
