SPRINGFIELD - Mayor Domenic J. Sarno today announced that the City has reached an agreement with Stamford Wrecking Co. and clean-up of the Gemini site is expected within 45 days or sooner. The company was at the Gemini site covering piles today.
“I am pleased this issue has been resolved and Stamford Wrecking Company is doing the right thing,” said Sarno.
Yesterday, the DEP ordered Stamford Wrecking Company, the company that is responsible for this project under contract with the City, to cover the piles of oil-laden dirt on the premises. Sarno said yesterday that he welcomed the involvement of the DEP.
“We had been trying for months to bring this issue to a positive end, and I am pleased for the neighbors of the Gemini site, and the City, that it has finally happened.”
