Can I get a prorated bill if I do not reside in Springfield for the entire year?
No. The owner of a participating dwelling unit or commercial unit whose name appears on the real estate tax bill for the property is responsible for the trash fee for the entire year. No proration is available to partial year residents, who maintain residence for any period of time outside Springfield, e.g. leaving home during winter months. Similarly, no proration is available to property owners who utilize city solid waste collection service only during partial year.
