The Engineering / Traffic Division of the Department of Public Works supplies specific engineering services and advice to the Department and to the City in general; performs on-site surveys, provides engineering design and plans, cost estimates, contract formulation, and construction supervision of various Public Works projects. Resident Engineers are assigned to all major projects and engineering inspectors are required to oversee all important phases of construction for both public and private construction where the public interest is involved.

The Division is responsible for maintenance of all traffic signals in the City as well as roadway marking's such as lane lines and crosswalk lines, etc. Parking meter repair, maintenance, manufacturing and installation of traffic control and regulatory signs are handled by the Traffic section.
