Senior Network Analyst

SUMMARY:

The Senior Network Analyst is part of a team that maintains and supports the City Of Springfield’s enterprise network and computer infrastructure; participating in various projects to continually improve the efficiency and security of the network infrastructure. Specific responsibilities include network engineering and planning, configurations, upgrades, and 3rd-level problem identification and resolution of hardware, software, network carrier, and security issues. The Senior Network Analyst may assume the Special Project Manager role for small- to medium-sized network projects and/or assume the network technical lead role for other projects.

Hiring criteria

Required: 

·        Minimum 10 years of experience with demonstrated accomplishments in designing/engineering/planning enterprise-wide network infrastructures.

·        Strong understanding of networking operating systems, routing protocols, topologies, backup/alternate routing, and elimination of single points of failure.

·        Solid experience with network monitoring, testing, analysis, and modeling tools.

·        Expert level skill in design and programming Cisco routers and switches required.

·        Demonstrated experience researching new technologies, tools, and techniques and implement them into our technology environments.

·        The ability to effectively work in a team environment; have flexibility to adapt to changes.

·        Strong organizational and time management skills necessary, as well as the ability to multi-task.

·        Excellent verbal, written, and graphical/presentation communication skills when communicating with both technical and non-technical individuals at various levels of the organization are required.

·        Demonstrated hands-on Software experience with Microsoft NT, Windows XP, Exchange 2003, WSUS, Varitas Backup Exec, Linux and VPN is desirable.

Strongly Desirable:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) highly preferred.
  • Microsoft Exchange Certified Highly preferred.
  • Cisco (CCNE) Certification strongly preferred.
