1592 Main Street Redevelopment
Project Manager: Office of Planning and Economic Development When remediation is complete, the city will demolish approximately 2/3 of the rear of the building while preserving the front 1/3 of the building and it's historic art deco facade on Main Street. The rear area will become event and parking space, playing host to public market as well as providing a direct visual and pedestrian connection between downtown institutions such as The Fort restaurant and City Stage performing arts center. The front space of the building will become repurposed as a mix of office and retail space. The Asbestos Remediation Bid Specs were released on May 12, 2010. The bids were returned on June 10, 2010. Remediation work is expected to begin around July 1, 2010. Information on the remediation program/bid specs can be found on the Purchase Department website.
