About Community DevelopmentThe Community Development Department receives federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and redistributes them to local agencies which provide a variety of services (e.g., senior centers, after-school day care, homeless programs) to low and moderate income people. Those with an interest in these programs may take part in citizen-participation hearings that are held two or three times a year and advertised in the Springfield newspapers. Information on the obtaining of community development funds is contained in legal notices in the Springfield newspapers. |
