Springfield Redevelopment Authority
Information The Springfield Redevelopment Authority is a quasi-governmental entity created pursuant to Massachusetts General laws, Chapter 121B on, June 24, 1960. The SRA, like other redevelopment authorities throughout the Commonwealth, was created to address issues of urban blight, decadence and redevelopment pursuant to approved urban renewal plans(s). Under its authorizing statute, the Authority has broad powers to acquire deteriorated structures and/or open blighted land, including the power of eminent domain, clear, and dispose of acquired property, for redevelopment. The Authority is a separate and independent legal entity from the City of Springfield. The Springfield Redevelopment Authority is governed by a five(5) member board. Four of the members are appointed by the Mayor with a fifth member appointed by the Governor. Board Members Armando Feliciano, - Chair John B.
