City of Springfield Veterans Department Looking for Volunteers for Flagging of Cemeteries on Veterans Day

The City of Springfield’s Veterans Department is looking for volunteers to help with the flagging of cemeteries for Veterans Day.  Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and out of an abundance of caution, the usual volunteers, including the Springfield Public Schools ROTC, have been unable to gather to flag our beloved veteran markers.  In addition, some private cemeteries have respectfully asked and have limited visitation to only those individuals who have family members buried there.

The Veterans Department will flag all publicly owned and maintained cemeteries and only those private cemeteries that are allowing flagging to take place.

Those interested in volunteering can contact the City of Springfield’s Veterans Department at (413) 787-6141 or email Deputy Director of Veterans’ Service Joseph DeCaro at
