Mayor Sarno and Officials Congratulate Gándara Center on Achieving Accreditation

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, State Senator Eric Lesser and State Representatives Carlos Gonzalez and Orlando Ramos joined with Gándara Center CEO Lois Nesci and her staff today to congratulate Gándara on receiving their accreditation from the Council on Accreditation for meeting the highest national standards in practice excellence.

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to CEO Lois Nesci and her team at Gándara on this terrific achievement.  The Gándara Center provides vital and much-needed health service for our city, especially for our residents in our North End neighborhood.  Sometimes there is a language barrier that may hinder services but Gándara is able to break through that barrier.  Gándara has also partnered with City, working with Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris on addressing mental health and substance use issues, which have increased as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Again, congratulations to everyone at Gándara on this great distinction.  Well-earned and deserved!”

The Gándara Center has been serving the North End and now Hispanic community and other underserved populations since the late 1977.  For more information on services the Gándara Center provides, please visit
