SPS Seeks Community Input in SPS ESSER Funding

Springfield Public Schools is seeking community feedback regarding the funding of educational priorities under the ESSER initiative, emergency relief funding provided by the federal government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The federal emergency relief fund is aimed at assisting public school districts in reopening and remaining open safely, maximizing in-person instructional time and addressing the overall impact of the pandemic on schools nationwide. The district is planning to provide $80 million in funding under the ESSER initiative. The funds are a one-time investment and come with strict regulations on how they can and cannot be used.

Springfield Public Schools has posted a survey on its website ( to solicit community input for ESSER funding priorities. The survey asks participants to rank several school-related programs and services in the order they consider their importance. It also invites participants to share their own ideas regarding ESSER funding priorities and asks respondents for their opinions regarding ESSER funding strategies.

The survey will remain online until Monday, January 24th at 4:30 p.m.
