Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Mayoral Aide Minerva Marrero joined with the New North Citizens Council (NNCC) and many community partners on Friday at Roberto Clemente Field for the NNCC’s annual Back to School Block Party in partnership with Springfield Public Schools and the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership. The event featured games, food, ice cream, free school supplies, and backpack giveaways. Superintendent Daniel Warwick, City Councilor Maria Perez, School Committee members Josiah Gonzalez, Springfield Police Captain Rupert Daniel and members of the C3 police program were also in attendance.
Mayor Sarno stated, “Another wonderful Back to School party with our friends at the New North Citizens Council as we all prepare for another school year! Mini and I were happy to see so many folks down at the NNCC today – thank you to Maria Ligus, Jose Claudio, Josiah Gonzalez and the whole team at NNCC for your continued work to support our families and community and keep them connected to important resources.
